Where do you live (City, State, or Country)?
Atlanta, GA

Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel?
Father’s Day was approaching and considering I grew up without my biological father, I wanted to explore that space. The relationship between a father and daughter. For me I’ve been lucky enough to experience a surrogate father in place of my own, but the absence of my biological father has always been a sort of pain point. VINYL TAPED MARY JANE is a bridge between what’s it’s like to have a father, but for him to not be there when you need him the most.

How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN?
The actual writing of the script took 10 days. I then revised, revised, revised. I tend to think of the script for a long time before executing. Once I’ve worked through all the major turning points and I have the ending in mind, I’ll create an outline. I’ll type it out. A sentence or two for each major point. Then the outline becomes my map. I’ll sit it next to the computer screen as I write. I’ll reference it when I get lost. Sometimes, I’ll even revise it as I flesh out the story.

What is your ultimate ambition as a writer?
My ultimate goal is to be a Showrunner, running my own show. I aspire to have a production company where I crank out and sell many shows. I have endless ideas.

Which film or television writers inspire you? Why?

I’m most inspired by writers like Shonda Rhymes, Lena Waithe because they are not only writers, but they’re also creators. They’ve built their reputations such that they can write their own ticket. That is what I want.

What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show?
I love movies and television. It’s really difficult for me to pinpoint one. Just one? Really? I don’t know if it’s my all-time favorite, but I can definitely watch this movie over and over again. Something about it just really resonates with me. Jerry McGuire.

What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have?
You have to keep writing. But not only that. Work to get feedback on your writing so you know how to improve. Enter contests or pay for coverage. And be prepared to revise, revise, revise.

What else are you working on that the world needs to know about?
I actually just wrote two one-hour television shows.

MY HAPPY PLACE - A young, ambitious brunch chef applies for a business loan to open her own restaurant and unwittingly gets her identity stolen. In her search to uncover the crime, she’s gets roped into working for the notorious twin brothers of Osorio Cartel.

EXTENDED LIFE INDIVIDUALS – How different would our world be if Hitler or say, Albert Einstein were granted longer lives? After one of the Sisters of Fate is tricked into extending the lives of thousands of humans, Atropos, the Death Fate but go to Earth, track them down and determine if they are worthy to live or die in this epic fantasy show.
