Your script stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your story and why did you write a script instead of a short story or a novel?
Thank you for the compliment! I worked hard on this script and put a lot of myself into it. The inspiration came from a desire to create a unique and satirical take on identity politics and to make the end result insightful and funny at the same time. I chose to write a script instead of a short story or novel because the visual storytelling elements of cinema combined with dialogue and action is very effective for a character-driven story.

How long did it take you to write your script...and what is your writing process? Do you outline...use index cards...white board...or just start with FADE IN?
It took me about a month to complete this script, which is a milestone because it would have taken much longer to complete ten years ago when I first started my screenwriting journey. I’ve spent the better part of the past ten years building my craft and exploring various writing techniques. It's fascinating how my process has evolved over time - I've learned to trust my instincts more and embrace the messiness of creativity. My process is ever-evolving - sometimes I use an outline, other times index cards, or just blast it out on the page and refine it later.

What is your ultimate ambition as a writer?
I'd like to make movies and see my vision on the screen, even though there are so many screens vying for our attention nowadays. I don't just want to write for my own enjoyment - I think it's important to have a higher purpose with a broad effect and impact.

Which film or television writers inspire you? Why?
Too many to mention. I find inspiration in a diverse array of writers, from classic Hollywood to the visionary auteurs of to 70s to the boundary-pushing content creators of today. I'm continually inspired by storytellers who challenge conventions and illuminate the human experience in unexpected ways.

What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show?
As for my all-time favorite movie or TV show, there’s so much content out there that to narrow it down to one favorite is difficult. I believe the greatest masterpieces are yet to be made and I'm eagerly awaiting the next groundbreaking work that will redefine the film medium.

What advice do you have for writers hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have?
I would emphasize the importance of perseverance and continuous improvement. Winning contests or earning recognition is certainly validating, but the real reward lies in the journey of growth and self-discovery. Keep honing your craft, stay open to feedback, and never lose sight of your unique voice and perspective. Success may not come overnight, but with dedication and determination, your talent will shine through. Keep working hard and it will eventually pay off.

What else are you working on that the world needs to know about?
Currently, I'm juggling many projects, each one offering its own creative challenges as well as rewards. From feature-length screenplays to episodic storytelling, I'm exploring diverse genres and themes, always striving to push the boundaries of my creativity. While I can't reveal too much just yet, I'm excited about the stories I'm crafting and eager to share them with the world when the time is right.
